Time wasting Subreddits

So I know Reddit is obviously huge, but I’m surprised that a lot of my friends never browse it, let alone have heard of it. In a nutshell, it’s where most internet stories originate from that you may see on websites like BuzzFeed..! People upload their original content; be it stories or pictures and voice opinions on subjects in ‘sub reddits’.. and there are subreddits for everything! I thought I would share my go-to time wasting subs (aka what I browse when work is slow!) and hopefully they will equally be of interest for someone reading this.

reddit.com/r/creepy Okay so this is one that I read at caution… I am so intrigued by all things creepy, but the problem is that I get ridiculously scared, ridiculously easily. So really I’m gambling my night’s sleep away by reading these scary stories, and viewing some of the most creepy thing’s imaginable..but I’m just so interested. Many of the posts are of creepy things people have seen, like a doll in their attic, others post video links to creepy cartoons they watched as a kid or a foreign commercial that made them feel uneasy, and some post pictures that they’ve taken which have come out odd.  Some are much more severe though, and these are the one’s that I avoid like the plague. Real life creepiness, such as a recent post who’s headline read ‘Woman found pushing dead toddler in swing at 3am’. Yep that happened in America. Like, in real life…! Who the hell would click on that link?! So yeah some are pretty dark, but others have a bit of humour to them, especially when innocent things turn out to be so damn creepy such as this ‘telephone mask’ – created so you can be hands-free! Nightmares here I come…

imgur.com/r/mildlyinteresting So this one is 100% safe to look at, phew! I really enjoy flicking through the ‘mildly interesting’ photo’s that people have posted, of things that people have seen or found that are (you’ve guessed it) mildly interesting. There are always fun new pics every day, and its a great sub to look through when bored.

reddit.com/r/Glitch_in_the_Matrix Yep, another weird one.. I guess I’m really interested in supernatural stuff too, and the ‘Glitch’ sub is just people posting about their weird experiences, which they cannot explain other than there being a ‘glitch in the matrix’. Sure there is no way in validating these stories, and some are so ridiculous and unbelievable. But some that I’ve read have been really interesting to me, especially as one time I experienced a ‘glitch’ that to this day I cannot explain. Now please don’t think I’m crazy but a few years ago me and my brother were hanging out in his bedroom upstairs, with only us in the house. Suddenly I heard my mum shout something to us up the stairs, but knowing she 100% was NOT home, I kind of froze not knowing how to react. I momentarily tried to pass it off as my imagination, but then my brother asked ‘did you just hear mum?!’ as he heard it too. Going downstairs (eventually) she was definitely not there, and when later asked if she had popped back, she had definitely not. This was so creepy and weird and I can’t explain what I heard, but knowing I wasn’t the only one who heard it made it all the weirder! Since reading this sub, I have found a few similar glitches reported too. So maybe it’s some kind of phenomenon?!

reddit.com/r/todayilearned This is just a bit of a fun-facts sub, where some interesting things are posted that people have found out; such as ‘in Scandinavia it is common practice to take babies outside for a nap in the cold. Even when parents are inside a restaurant, they leave their sleeping babies alone in prams outside!’ What!

reddit.com/r/AskReddit People ask any question they like, serious “Atheists/Non-believers of Reddit, What do you HOPE happens after you die?” or not “To the former “weird” kids at school – are you still weird?”, and anyone can submit answers and discuss! I once asked ‘What is the most disgusting thing you’ve seen a colleague do at your workplace” – and the answers did not disappoint.

I hope you found these interesting and check them out when you get a chance. I’d love to hear about any subreddits that I may not have heard of too!
