On Saturday we paid a visit to Maltby Street Market to grab a bite to eat for lunch. A short walk from Bermondsey tube station, tucked away from the main road, the narrow street is heaving with people enjoying delicious food and drink from the pop up stalls. Naturally we walked the length of the road first, to see what was on offer and to taste as many free samples as possible! I decided to go for a chicken and cheese Brazilian wrap, which was made fresh in front of me by two very nice Brazilian men (who were very accommodating to my food fussiness!) It was really tasty and I feel that I made the right choice – and there was a lot of choice. I did spot some amazing monstrous looking burgers soon after, but they will have to wait until next time. Also down the street was an interesting antique/junk shop, which we popped in to. I particularly liked the butchers’ meat posters, although I don’t think they’d fit in to our modern flat’s décor… On leaving we treated ourselves to a brownie each – it was the most gooey-melt in your mouth brownie I think I’ve ever tasted, I’m still drooling over the thought of it now! It was really nice to do something different on a Saturday and as long as there’s weekend sun, I will definitely be popping back before the summer ends.
