Saatchi in Spring

Last Saturday we picked up our hungover selves and marched over to Kensington in the sunshine, to visit the Saatchi Gallery. Long time lovers of Saatchi, we knew there were new exhibits on display which we wanted to check out, and based off the Kings Road, we knew it would be a lovely area to be in on this crazily sunny and warm day! Saatchi as usual did not disappoint, with over 97,000 blue plastic bags on display in one room (why not?!) and the good ol’ oil room still downstairs, waiting to freak me out again.

The whole upstairs had been transformed for the Hermès ‘Wanderland’ exhibition, which was pretty cool. Walking through different rooms which had been utterly transformed completely into some kind of fantasy dreamland, with the eleven rooms presenting a series of installations in various media, created by a diverse selection of artists. It was an awesome experience and I was quite wary walking into each room, as you really didn’t know what to expect next. From walking through a wardrobe to being inside a floor-to-ceiling graffiti room, the exhibition was really exciting and I would definitely recommend going..also it’s free so that helps! My favourite room was the Parisian café, where random objects would partly be interactive and animated, and you could look down bottle tops and ashtrays to see teeny tiny videos going on inside!

After we left the Saatchi to our amazement there was a street-food market right outside near the green, so we got some delicious lunch there – I got a burger and B got a duck confit roll (which looked delicious!) We then mooched down the road, popped to The Bluebird for a stop in the sun and then wandered home, was such a lovely day.
